Homework for Literacy Group.

We have been looking at The Piano by Aidan Gibbons.  Today we discussed how the creator has evoked all those different emotions into a very short film and the techniques he used.

These included

The Setting

The Sound (Music used)

The Symbolism

The  Story

The Sequence (order) the story was told.

Your Homework is to answer this question.

What has Aiden Gibbons done to make viewers feel emotion when watching this story.

HINTS: Think about a burger!!! How could you ORGANISE your writing? What could go in the meaty parts of your work (SSSSS!)? How are you going to end it?

The Piano by Aidan Gibbons

My Literacy Group have begun a fantastic topic looking at film narrative.
We are watching this sensational short animation and thinking about the themes, characters and messages within. Kick back, relax and enjoy. Then please let us know what you think whoever you are.

Read these two sets of instructions.  Then answer these questions in your homework book, as a comment on the blog or on paper.

1.  What are they instructions for?

2. What is the purpose of instructions?

3. Which article is the clearest and easiest to understand? Why?

4. What are the features you can see that make good instruction writing.

5. Which made the best snowman?  Take a photo of your attempts. (Make them in a safe place and make sure an adult knows where you are)

6.  Write your own instructions for the perfect igloo, snowball or something else.  Don’t forget to take a picture.  We can put a collection on the blog when we get back to school.

More homework will be on the blog tomorrow. Make sure you come and get it and pass on the information to others in the class.

See you soon.

How was your snowday?

I am sure you are devastated that school has been closed for the last two days.  Why don’t you tell everyone how you have spent your two bonus days off.  Who built the biggest snowman? Who threw the biggest snowball? Share your experiences.
